On April 1, 2023 the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Division of Medicaid Services, announced the launch of the New Hampshire Smiles Adult Program, which provides comprehensive dental coverage to adults who have insurance through New Hampshire Medicaid. Adults 21 years of age and over who have full Medicaid benefits will automatically be enrolled in the program. Medicaid recipients under the age of 21 had already been receiving dental benefits.
Services covered by the New Hampshire Smiles Adult Program include examinations, X-rays, cleanings, fillings, limited gum-related treatment, extractions and oral surgeries. People who qualify for Medicaid under the Developmental Disability (DD) Waiver and Acquired Brain Disorder (ABD) Waiver will also have coverage for removable partial and full dentures. The individual benefit will be capped at $1500 per year and this excludes preventative care.
