At the August 9th Medicaid Managed Care meeting, Commissioner Jeff Meyers reviewed SB 553’s language, articulating that Choices for Independence (CFI) and Nursing Facilities (NF) will be incorporated into managed Medicaid on July 1, 2019.  SB 553 was signed into law in June 2016, instructing the Department of Health and Human Services to develop an implementation plan for the remaining unimplemented phases of the Medicaid managed care program.

Meyers went on to state that there is no plan for incorporating Developmental Disabilities (DD), Acquired Brain Disorder (ABD) or In Home Supports (IHS) into managed care at this time, nor does he expect there to be one at any time in the near future.  The focus of SB 553 work is solely on CFI and NF at this time.
